AOFAS Award
Dr. Haleem wins American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) Travelling Fellowship Award July 2017, Seatlle, Washington, USA
In July 2017, Dr. Haleem was selected among a very competitive process involving applicants from all over the world for the prestigious AOFAS Traveling Fellowship. He received the Award in the Annual AOFAS Meeting in Seattle, Washington from AOFAS president Dr. Jeffery Johnson. Dr. Haleem then spent
3 weeks visiting the major Foot and Ankle Centers in the USA and Canada. The fellowship started at the Seattle Harber view Medical Center, University of Washington with their world renowned Foot and Ankle Surgeons; Dr. Bruce Sangeorzan, Dr. Sigvard Hansen, Dr. Stephen Benirschke and Dr. Michael Brage.
With them, Dr. Haleem observed state of the art techniques in total ankle replacement and complex foot and ankle fractures. The second center was the University of Utah with the famous Dr. Charles Saltzman and his associates; Dr. Timothy Beals, Dr. Florian Nickisch and Dr. Alexas Barj. With them Dr. Haleem observed a mixture of foot and ankle sports procedures and deformity corrections. The next stop was at Las Vegas with Dr. Troy Watson at the Desert Orthopedic Center where Dr. Haleem saw some novel operative techniques.
The last stop was at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, with Dr. Alastair Younger and Dr. Andrea Veljkovic where Dr. Haleem was introduced to minimally invasive techniques in foot and ankle surgery. The experience was one of a kind and introduced Dr. Haleem to different schools in foot and ankle surgery and fortified research collaboration with these centers of excellence.
